„IT WAS MY VERY PLEASURE!“
BIENNIAL GENERAL MEETING CONFIRMS JOCHEN RESSEL’S RESIGNATION AS SECRETARY GENERAL

At the end of July 2025, Jochen Ressel announced to the internal committees of the Austro-British Society his wish to step down from the ABS Board and thus from his position as Secretary General. At the Biennial General Meeting, which took place yesterday, 9 September 2025, at the Diplomatic Academy, the delegates present confirmed the new board. Wolfgang Buchta will succeed Jochen Ressel as Secretary General. Deputy Secretary General Christian Steiner and political scientist Prof. Melanie Sully also stepped down from the board.
Jochen Ressel has been a member of the Austro-British Society since 2011 and was appointed to the ABS Board in 2017. He served as Secretary General for the last four years, from 2021 to 2025.
„I wish the newly elected board every success in tackling the challenges and tasks ahead of it in the coming years and will remain a full member of the society,“ said Jochen Ressel. „When priorities change and motivation suffers, decisions must be made for the good of the institution. As I remain connected to the ABS, this is merely a departure from a position and a committee, and I look forward to the next events.“
